Examined different
kinds of informal mentoring experiences among early managers and professionals.
517 Ss (mean age 31 yrs) in full-time positions completed questionnaires; 58,7 %
of Ss were female. Results show that respondents involved in informal mentoring
report higher degree of workplace satisfaction, expect faster future career are
more work-involved and have higher salary than respondent not involved in
informal mentoring. Significant correlation with the personality factor
extraversion and conscientiousness are also reported in the study. A discussion
with earlier finding on personality and perceived mentor success presented,
showing the importance of formalizing the mentoring relation in some specific
cases.
